This Holset HX35W configuration fits the 1994-1998 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 with the legendary 5.9L Cummins 6BT 12-valve diesel — the 2nd-gen Ram. It runs an HX40-style 76/64mm wheel setup inside the HX35W frame for stronger mid-range and top-end airflow than the stock unit, while bolting straight on. Fixed geometry, internal wastegate — no electronics anywhere. This is an aftermarket hybrid configuration; no direct OE or same-part interchange number has been verified. Built new, dynamically balanced, ships with gaskets. We supply diesel shops and distributors.

HX35W for the 12-Valve Cummins: The 2nd-Gen Ram Turbo

The 1994-1998 12-valve Cummins is the most beloved diesel engine in the pickup world — mechanical P7100 injection pump, no electronics, essentially unkillable. The HX35W is its turbo, and this HX40-wheel hybrid configuration gives the 12V more breathing room for trucks running fuel plate or governor spring upgrades.

Installation and Care

  • Find out why the old turbo failed before installing the new one. Oil starvation or contaminated oil will destroy the replacement the same way.
  • Change the engine oil and filter. Flush or replace the oil feed line.
  • Replace the exhaust manifold and oil drain gaskets. Prime the turbo with clean oil before startup.
  • Check the intake ducting and wastegate hose for leaks. No electronic calibration is required for this fixed-geometry hybrid.
