New Holset HE451VE VGT Turbochargers for Cummins ISX15 and QSX Engines
The Holset HE451VE is the VGT turbocharger that ran the Cummins ISX15 through its EPA07 and EPA10/EPA13 emissions tiers — the generation that sits between the older HE561VE and the current HE400VG. Trucks built with CM570, CM870 and CM871E control modules run this turbo, and millions of them are still on the road accumulating the mileage that eventually requires turbo service. We stock brand new HE451VE turbochargers in three part number variants covering the ISX15 from 450HP through 550HP and the QSX industrial platform. Every unit ships with the electronic VGT actuator, balanced and verified against your engine serial number. No core charge. Shops, fleets and distributors order from US stock.

The HE451VE sits in the sweet spot of the ISX15 turbo lifecycle — old enough that trucks are hitting 500,000+ miles and needing turbos, but new enough that the trucks are worth repairing. Fleet shops replacing these turbos need a reliable new-unit source with no core hassle and correct HP-tier matching. That is what we deliver.
Every HE451VE we ship is 100% new — new CHRA, new nozzle ring, new wheels, new actuator. No core deposit, no old unit to freight back. The actuator ships pre-installed on the turbo body, ready for calibration after installation.
We stock the 3792574 for ISX15 applications at 450-500HP, the 2882112 for the higher-output ISX15 and QSX at 550HP, and the 2882110RX for additional ISX series variants. The HP tier determines the compressor and turbine calibration — order the wrong one and the ECM cannot achieve correct boost targets.
The HE451VE and the HE400VG are not interchangeable. The HE451VE fits EPA07 through EPA13 ISX15 engines (CM570, CM870, CM871E). The HE400VG fits EPA17 and later (CM2350). If your truck has a CM2350 control module, you need the HE400VG, not the HE451VE — and vice versa. We confirm by ESN before shipping.
HE451VE part numbers cross-reference to dozens of Cummins, Holset and third-party interchange numbers. The engine serial number cuts through the confusion — it identifies the exact engine build, emissions tier and turbo variant your truck requires. We verify every order against the ESN.
One-year warranty on every HE451VE, handled by our US team. Before install, check the oil feed line for restriction, inspect the charge-air cooler for oil contamination, and verify crankcase pressure is within spec. A new turbo on a truck with high blowby or a restricted oil line is a guaranteed comeback. See the warranty page.

WHY CHOOSE US
We verify by ESN, hold both HP-tier variants on a US shelf, and support shops through the install. ISX15 turbo work is bread-and-butter volume — our process matches that pace. More about our company and quality process.
The HE451VE is used on Cummins ISX15 engines with EPA07 through EPA13 emissions equipment, running CM570, CM870 and CM871E engine control modules. It is also used on certain QSX industrial and marine applications. The ISX15 with this turbo powers Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack, International and other Class 8 trucks built roughly between 2007 and 2016.
No. The HE451VE and HE400VG are different turbo generations for the ISX15. The HE451VE fits EPA07-EPA13 engines; the HE400VG fits EPA17 and later. They have different actuator designs, different calibrations and different part numbers. They are not interchangeable — the ECM software expects the specific turbo generation that the engine was built with.
Yes. Every HE451VE we sell ships with the electronic VGT actuator pre-installed on the turbo body. After installation, the actuator must be calibrated using Cummins INSITE to learn the nozzle ring travel range on the specific turbo body.
By engine serial number (ESN). The ESN identifies the emissions tier, HP rating and exact turbo variant. Send us the ESN from the engine dataplate and we confirm the correct HE451VE part number. Do not order by truck model year alone — mid-year changes and spec variations exist across the ISX15 production run.
All units are 100% brand new. No rebuilt cores, no core charge. New CHRA, new nozzle ring, new actuator. Balanced and OEM-spec. One-year warranty.
Yes. Fleet maintenance operations and diesel shops working on ISX15-powered trucks order HE451VE turbos as regular volume parts. Consistent wholesale pricing from US stock. See the wholesale page.
The HE451VE is the middle generation of the ISX15 VGT turbo family — newer than the HE561VE, older than the HE400VG. It ran the ISX15 through its highest-production years, and the trucks that carry it are now entering the mileage window where turbo replacement is common work.
| Turbo | Emissions tier | Control module | Era |
|---|---|---|---|
| HE561VE | Pre-EPA07 | CM570 | Early ISX |
| HE451VE | EPA07 - EPA13 | CM570/CM870/CM871E | 2007-2016 |
| HE400VG | EPA17+ | CM2350 | 2017-current |
The ISX15 turbo is not backward or forward compatible across these generations. The ECM calibration is tied to the specific turbo type — installing the wrong generation produces fault codes and incorrect boost behavior even if the turbo physically bolts on.
The HE451VE fails through the same mechanism as every Holset VGT: exhaust soot progressively loads the nozzle ring, the vanes start to stick, the electronic actuator overworks to compensate, and eventually the system cannot maintain correct vane position. Common fault codes include SPN 2387 (turbo VGT actuator position) and SPN 2789 (turbo VGT actuator command). The exhaust brake weakens before boost codes set — a weak engine brake on an ISX15 is almost always the first sign of VGT trouble.
The HE451VE electronic actuator must be calibrated to the turbo body after every replacement. The calibration process uses Cummins INSITE to command the actuator through its full travel range while the software maps the physical position of the nozzle ring at each commanded angle. This step is not optional — without calibration, the ECM does not know the actual vane position and cannot control boost accurately. The calibration takes approximately ten minutes with the engine idling and is done from the driver seat through the diagnostic port.
