Installation and Care

  • Find out why the old turbo failed before rebuilding it. Oil starvation or contaminated oil will damage the repaired unit the same way.
  • Change the engine oil and filter. Flush or replace the oil feed line.
  • Clean the CHRA and inspect the bearing housing, shaft, wheels and seals. Do not reuse damaged components.
  • Follow the HE551V service procedure for clearances, assembly and balancing. Use a qualified turbo shop if the required equipment is unavailable.
  • Prime the repaired turbo with clean oil and check the oil and coolant connections for leaks after installation.
