The HE600WG / HX60W is the Holset turbocharger for the Cummins ISX2 non-EGR, ISX3, and Signature 600 engines — the highest-output ISX platform at 600 HP. This is a large-frame turbo with a water-cooled bearing housing designed for the extreme exhaust temperatures at 600 HP. It fits 2006-2008 ISX2 applications as well as Signature ISX3 and some Volvo trucks and Komatsu industrial gen sets running the ISX2. Holset assembly 4043620, Cummins OEM 4090043. HE600WG / HX60W: The 600 HP ISX Turbo

The HE600WG is the largest turbo in the Cummins ISX lineup. It serves the non-EGR ISX2 and Signature 600 engines — trucks that were built for maximum power before EGR and VGT turbos became standard. At 600 HP, exhaust gas temperatures are extremely high, and this turbo is designed to handle that with a water-cooled bearing housing and heavy-duty materials throughout.

Common failure modes

  • Bearing wear — the 600 HP rating pushes shaft speed and bearing load hard. Bearing wear is the most frequent failure on high-mileage units.
  • Coolant seal failure — the water-cooled bearing housing uses O-rings that degrade from heat cycling. Replace all coolant seals on install.
  • Turbine housing cracks — the extreme EGT at 600 HP accelerates thermal fatigue. Inspect the housing for cracks at every service interval.

Installation

  • This is a large, heavy turbo. Use a hoist or get help during installation.
  • Replace coolant O-rings and fittings at the bearing housing. Bleed coolant system.
  • Flush oil feed line. Replace oil drain gasket.
  • Prime with clean oil, hand-spin shaft, idle 3-5 minutes before loading.
